The HTC One is #1 for April 2013

Summary – After five months in first place on the People’s Choice and Expert’s Choice monthly charts, the Samsung Galaxy Note II has been replaced by the HTC One, the company’s flagship smartphone.  With availability on AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile in the U.S., HTC One brings fantastic features to a number of wireless carriers.  Samsung is down but certainly not out with the all-new Galaxy S 4.  Will the HTC One hold the top spot throughout May?

MT PLEASANT, SC – PhoneDog Media is pleased to announce the monthly winners for April 2013 in the Official Smartphone Rankings™ (OSR). At just over one year old, the first-in-class program gathers votes from both readers and experts each week for ranking the top smartphones in respective charts.

For the month of April, the HTC One displaced the Samsung Galaxy Note II, breaking its five month winning streak and becoming the number one smartphone on the People’s Choice and Expert’s Choice charts.  Announced in February and recently released on AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile, the One garnered 1,645 total votes and 228 expert points.  With a metal build, the One features software bonuses such as HTC BlinkFeed and HTC Zoe.

In second place on both the People’s Choice and Expert’s Choice chart, the Samsung Galaxy Note II, with 752 votes and 131 expert points.  Debuting last year at IFA 2012 in Berlin, the Galaxy Note II continues to resonate well with consumers due to features and availability on multiple carriers.  Maintaining its third place spot on the People’s Choice chart, the BlackBerry Z10 ended the month with 355 votes.  On the Expert’s Choice chart, the Apple iPhone 5 placed third with 131 expert points.

“HTC’s One’s powerful features and metal looks have resonated well with consumers and experts alike,” said Aaron Baker, Editor-in-Chief of PhoneDog.  “With the Samsung Galaxy S 4 launch underway and announcements from Nokia and Google on the horizon, May is shaping up to be a very competitive month in the smartphone space.”
