The HTC One (global) takes over first place

In week 55 of PhoneDog Media's Official Smartphone Rankings™, Samsung’s Galaxy Note II was ousted from its first place spot by the all-new HTC One (global).  Encased in a metal unibody with a beautiful 1080p HD display, the HTC One is one of the most talked about Android smartphones of late.  Can the One propel HTC into 2013, with the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S 4 on the horizon?

MT PLEASANT, SC – For 55 weeks and counting, PhoneDog Media's Official Smartphone Rankings™ (OSR) has become the gold standard for ranking the market's greatest smartphones by placing votes from readers and experts alike in respective charts each week. After a solid two weeks back in the first place spotlight, the Samsung Galaxy Note II was bumped out of the top spot on both the People’s Choice and Expert’s Choice charts by the HTC One (global), with 494 votes.  A newcomer to PhoneDog’s Official Smartphone Rankings, the HTC One is the first of many flagship Android phones set to debut in the first half of 2013.

The people ranked the Samsung Galaxy Note II at second place with 293 votes, while the BlackBerry Z10 fell to third place with 208 votes.  The Google Nexus 4 secured the fourth place spot with 114 votes, followed by the Nokia Lumia 920 with 82 votes. On the Expert’s Choice Chart, the Samsung Galaxy Note II dropped to second place with 40 points, while the Apple iPhone 5 moved into third place with 35 points.  Garnering 21 points each, the Google Nexus 4 and Samsung Galaxy S III tied for fourth place, while the fifth place position went to the BlackBerry Z10 with 15 points.

“The HTC One offers a beautiful metal body, great specifications, and unique consumer-centric features such as HTC Zoe and HTC BlinkFeed.  As the People and Expert’s Choice charts reflect, the One is a win for anyone seeking a new Android smartphone," said Aaron Baker, Editor-in-Chief of PhoneDog.
