The Samsung Galaxy Camera has been available with built-in AT&T and Verizon cellular connectivity since late last year, giving customers the opportunity to pick up an Android-powered point and shoot that'd let them instantly upload their photos without having to hunt for a Wi-Fi connection. Not everyone needs an always-on cellular connection, though, and so today Samsung decided to introduce a Wi-Fi-only model of its Galaxy Camera. This new version offers all of the same features as the cellular variants, including a 16.3-megapixel sensor, 21x optical zoom lens, quad-core processor, 4.8-inch touchscreen and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
While this Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Camera offers all of the same features as its cellular counterparts, there is one thing that'll be different: price. Samsung promises that the Wi-Fi will be "more affordable" than previous versions, though the company isn't ready to talk exact pricing or release information quite yet. Still, it's good to see Samsung opt to offer a Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Camera variant. Not only would many folks likely be just fine using only Wi-Fi connections, the $500 and higher pricing of the cellular-enabled models may be a bit tough for some folks to swallow. Now we just need to wait for Samsung to spill more details on the Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Camera's availability.
