Around two weeks after the Sprint Galaxy Nexus's update to Android 4.2 first appeared on Google's servers, the Jelly Bean bump has officially begun making its way to users. Sprint has announced in its forums that an update to Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean is going out to the Galaxy Nexus starting today, Jan. 30. Included in the update are the expected Android 4.2 goodies, such as a Quick Settings menu that can be accessed with a two-finger swipe from the top of the display, the Photo Sphere 360-degree panorama camera mode, and lock screen widgets.
Sprint notes that the Android 4.2.1 update for its Galaxy Nexus is going out over the air and will be pushed out to devices in phases over a 10-21 day period. Device selection is said to be random, but users can always check for the update manually by heading into Settings > About phone > System Updates > Check Now.
This update comes to the Sprint Galaxy Nexus nearly five months after its update to Android 4.1 and around two and a half months after the GSM Galaxy Nexus began getting Android 4.2. That may seem like a bit of a wait, but it's still good to see one of the CDMA Galaxy Nexus models getting its bump up to Android 4.2, and I'm sure that Sprint Galaxy Nexus owners are just glad to be on the latest version of Android once again.
