Following reports of new Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 and Galaxy Note 8.0 models that popped up last week, a new report has surfaced claiming to have more details on Samsung's upcoming tablet plans. On the small side of things, SamMobile believes that Samsung has opted to give its plans for a 7-inch Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 the axe. There's no mention of what may have caused that decision, but the site does say that Samsung may opt to introduce an 8-inch Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 model at some point if the Galaxy Note 8.0 sells well.
Speaking of the Galaxy Note 8.0, it's said that Samsung is currently prepping a 4G LTE-enabled version of its upcoming S Pen-equipped slate. The purported model number for this LTE Note 8.0 is GT-N5120, which is a right above the model numbers for the 3G-enabled model (GT-N5100) and the Wi-Fi-only variant (GT-N5110), the latter of which we just saw pass through the FCC.
The upcoming 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 is also rumored to be getting an LTE variant at some point in the future. We've previously heard that the 3G version of the Tab 3 10.1 will feature the model number GT-N5200 and that the Wi-Fi-only model will be the GT-N5210, and so it's expected that the LTE-flavored unit will be the GT-N5220.
Finally, today's report makes mention of a couple of other upcoming slates that are fairly mysterious. The "Roma" GT-P8200 device that we heard about previously is said to be a Galaxy Tab 3 Plus tablet. The P8200 is expected to be a high-end unit with a 5-megapixel camera, and it's expected that it'll be available in 3G (GT-P8200), Wi-Fi-only (GT-P8210), and LTE (GT-P8220) flavors. Samsung is also said to be prepping a tablet with the codename "Vienna," but details on that product are still up in the air.
It certainly sounds like Samsung's got quite a few tablets up its sleeve, though that's not entirely surprising considering that the company's been churning out new slates on a fairly frequent basis since the original 7-inch Galaxy Tab hit in late 2010. It'd be interesting to see Sammy opt to release an 8-inch Galaxy Tab 3 model rather than bringing another 7-inch model to market, but with the Note 8.0 coming up, releasing an 8-inch Galaxy Tab 3 would give customers a second 8-inch tablet option in Samsung's lineup that'd likely be cheaper than the Note 8.0 and would be another way for the firm to go after Apple's 7.9-inch iPad mini.
