That didn't take long. Less than a week after we first got wind of the Sony Xperia Tablet Z, the new slate has been made officially official by Sony Mobile's Japanese arm. As expected, the Xperia Tablet Z touts a 10.1-inch 1920x1200 Mobile Bravia Engine 2 display and 1.5GHz quad-core processor, all packed into a waterproof and dustproof body that measures 6.9mm thick. Also included is an 8.1-megapixel camera, 4G LTE, Android 4.1, NFC and S-Force virtual surround sound technology. The Tablet Z will be offered in both black and white.
The Xperia Tablet Z features a design that's similar to the Xperia Z smartphone that Sony introduced at CES earlier this month, which shouldn't come as a surprise considering that they share a similar name and that the Xperia Z is Sony's new flagship smartphone. Sony's new Xperia tablet looks like a nice step-up over the Tablet S that hit last year, and for anyone that's not afraid to snap some photos with their tablet, Sony is touting the Tablet Z's camera as having an "Auto Low Premium" mode that ought to improve the low-light shooting experience. There's no word yet on when the Tablet Z will launch, how much it'll cost when it does or when we might see it here in the U.S., but for anyone that digs the look of the Xperia Z, the Xperia Tablet Z may be worth keeping an eye out for.
