Last month we saw the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD become the recipient of a $50 discount, knocking the price of entry down to just $249. Amazon today announced that it's revived that offer, but this time the promotion is only open to Amazon Student members. Those lucky folks can purchase either an 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD or Kindle Fire HD 4G LTE and receive a $50 discount with the promo code "KNDL4STU." The offer is available to Amazon Student members with a free or paid account.
With this $50 discount, the Wi-Fi-only Kindle Fire 8.9 will be priced at $249 for the 16GB model and $319 for the 32GB model, while pricing for the 4G LTE-enabled Kindle Fire 8.9 will be set at $449 for the 32GB flavor and $549 for the more capacious 64GB variant. Those are pretty good deals for a shiny new Kindle Fire HD 8.9, and while it's worth noting that that pricing is for the "With Special Offers" models with ads on the lock screen and in the lower left corner of the home screen, users can pony up $15 to permanently remove the offers. So, any of you .edu address-toting folks out there going to spring for an 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD?
