T-Mobile's HTC Windows Phone 8X next in line for Portico software update

A week after the international version of HTC's Windows Phone 8X began receiving an update codenamed "Portico," it appears that the T-Mobile flavor of the device is set to receive the same bump. A T-Mobile support page has revealed that the the update for its 8X will bring the device to OS version 8.0.10211.204 (firmware version 1532.20.20004.531) and will include an assortment of bug fixes. The issues that'll be addressed relate to Bluetooth, devices rebooting and an bug that incorrectly sends users to a tethering upsell page while browsing the Internet.

HTC has confirmed to Phone Scoop that this is the Portico update for Magenta's 8X. When it rolled out to the global 8X last week, Portico brought with it a tweak to keep a phone connected to Wi-Fi after its screen times out, the option to reject a phone call and respond with a text message and the ability to mass select text messages for easier deletion.

T-Mobile says that this update will be rolling out to 8X units over the air, though users can also snag it manually by heading into Settings > Phone Update > Check for Updates on their devices.  T-Mo says that the update will be released on Dec. 19, aka tomorrow, but HTC has said that it's started rolling out today, so it may be worth your time to check for the new software if you've got a T-Mobile-branded 8X laying around. Be sure to let us know when your 8X finally gets its own taste of Portico!
