Nexus 7 32GB starts popping up at some retailers with $249 price tag

The 32GB version of the Nexus 7 still hasn't been formally introduced by Google, but that apparently hasn't stopped some retailers from putting the thing on their shelves. The 32GB version of Google's 7-inch slate is now listed on Walmart.com with a price tag of $249, while the 16GB model is now available for $199. There doesn't appear to be a page for the 8GB model on Walmart's site. Meanwhile, Droid-Life found that at least one brick and mortar Office Depot store has already put the 32GB Nexus 7 on display, complete with the same $249 price as Walmart.

As for Google itself, neither the 8GB nor the 16GB flavors of the Nexus 7 are available from the Play store. The 8GB version is listed as "Coming Soon" with a price of $199, while the 16GB model's page says that "This device is not for sale at this time." No price is listed with the 16GB Nexus 7.

The Nexus 7 originally debuted in June in 8GB and 16GB variants. After the operating system and preinstalled apps, though, the 8GB has just under 6GB of space available, leaving some users a tad strapped for memory. Because of that, it's nice to see a more capacious 32GB Nexus 7 on the way. And hey, for users that don't want to splurge for that much space, it looks like the 16GB model is set to drop from $249 to $199. There's no word yet on when the 32GB Nexus 7 could officially go on sale, but with multiple retailers listing the device in their real and virtual stores, a launch likely isn't far off.
