The big Apple-Samsung trial is currently underway in California, and while we've already seen several documents surface as evidence in the case, an internal Samsung report from 2010 that's surfaced may be the most interesting piece yet. The 132-page document compares the original Galaxy S with the iPhone and runs through many different features of the two devices, including the home screen and built-in apps, and covers how Samsung's product engineering group thought that the Galaxy S could be improved. For example, the page above says that the iPhone's app icons feature light that gives them a "three dimensionality" and "luxurious feel." Samsung then suggests at the bottom of the page that it adopts light effects to improve its own icons.
This internal Samsung document is pretty beefy in size, and there are several instances in which the company's suggestions for improving the Galaxy S include adopting features similar to those on the iPhone. Still, this piece of evidence doesn't necessarily guarantee Apple the win in its case, as All Things D points out that Apple must prove to the jury that Samsung straight-up infringed on the Cupertino firm's design and utility patents or iPhone and iPad design elements. For now the document, while certainly not helpful to Samsung's case, is an internal Samsung report comparing the iPhone and Galaxy S and suggesting ways that the Galaxy S could be improved.
