Samsung wins temporary stay on Galaxy Nexus injunction

While Samsung didn't have much luck getting stays on the injunctions against the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Nexus from Judge Lucy Koh, things appear to have gone slightly better with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Samsung asked the Federal Circuit for temporary stays on the bans against both the Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Nexus, and although the Federal Circuit denied Samsung's request for a stay for the Tab 10.1, it granted a stay on the Galaxy Nexus ban. The injunction on the handset will be suspended until Apple issues a response (due by 5:00 p.m. on July 12) and the court can decide whether or not the injunction should remain in effect for the entirety of the trial.

While I'm sure Samsung would've liked to have gotten stays for both of its devices from the Federal Circuit, the company is likely happy that it at least got one, especially since it's for the Galaxy Nexus. Of course, Google is already planning to begin sales of the Galaxy Nexus next week, but at least there's no need for either company to worry about an injunction for now. It'll definitely be interesting to see exactly what Apple has to say in response to Samsung's requests for stays (anyone wanna bet that they'll be against them?) and how the court ultimately rules. Keep it locked here for the latest on the Apple-Samsung battle!
