T-Mobile: Samsung Galaxy S II Android 4.0 update coming tonight at 11 p.m. Eastern

Earlier this month, T-Mobile announced that the Android 4.0 update for its Samsung Galaxy S II would be coming on June 11, and now the carrier has even narrowed down the launch to a specific start time. T-Mobile has updated its support document for the update to show that it'll be available starting tonight at 11 p.m. Eastern, 8 p.m. Pacific. The update is software version T989UVLE1 and will bump users up to Android 4.0.3. The full changelog as provided by T-Mobile:

Version

  • Android version 4.0.3/ Software version T989UVLE1
  • Manual Update ONLY (Size varies based on previous software version)
  • Approved 6/11/12

Improvements

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS)
  • CMAS improvement
  • Wi-Fi Calling enhancements
  • Voicemail enhancements

Prerequisites

  • Android version 2.3.6 / Software version T989UVKID/KL1/LDE update
  • Latest version of Kies software downloaded on PC or MAC
  • At least 50% battery life

T-Mobile notes that this optional update to Android 4.0 will only be available for download using Samsung's Kies software, meaning that there won't be an over the air push. Also, installing the update will wipe the homescreen layout of the updated device, so you'd better take some mental photos so you can remember the exact placement of all of your apps. Those two details might be kind of a bummer for some of the T-Mobile Galaxy S II owners out there, but considering that you're also getting moved up to Ice Cream Sandwich, those small downsides will likely be worth it. So how many of you T-Mo Galaxy S II owners have now cleared your schedule for this evening?
