Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S II Android 4.0 upgrade begins rolling out in the U.S.

Did you opt for an unlocked GSM Samsung Galaxy S II rather than picking up one of the carrier-specific models here in the U.S.? If so, your decision has paid off today, as it appears that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has begun rolling out to unlocked GSII's stateside. Screenshots posted by Engadget show that the update weighs in at 216.55MB and that performing the upgrade will reset settings for things like your home screen and music playlist.

It's worth mentioning again that this update is for unlocked, unbranded GSM Galaxy S IIs here in the U.S., so any folks toting an Epic 4G Touch, Galaxy S II Skyrocket or the like aren't included. If you decided to spring for the unlocked GSII, though, you may want to mosey on into your settings and check to see if there's a software update waiting for you. Not only will the bump bring you up to Android 4.0, it'll also allow for the download of ICS-only apps like the Chrome Beta browser. Remember to shout out in the comments below if you've got a Galaxy S II and get the Android 4.0 update installed on your handset!
