AT&T today announced that it had extended its 4G LTE network to a few new markets in the Midwest, but that's not the only network-related news that the carrier made today. John Donovan, who is AT&T's senior executive vice president of technology and network operations, took to the company's Innovation Space blog today to discuss how AT&T gathered researchers and engineers in New York today to show what's possible when Living the Networked Life. The projects take advantage of AT&T's network to help improve lives and include things like NFC, AT&T Translator and AT&T Watson Speech Recognition API. AT&T also revealed that it will be sharing AT&T Watson Speech Recognition APIs with developers so that they can incorporate the tech's capabilities into their own products.
Many of the projects detailed by AT&T today sound pretty useful, like Got My Stuff, which uses small RFID tags in items like a license or laptop and can alert you on your phone or an in-car display if you've forgotten any of your tagged items.
