Rumor: HTC EVO 4G LTE hitting Sprint on May 18th

Earlier this month when Sprint took the wraps off of the HTC EVO 4G LTE, it confirmed that pricing for the device would be set at $199.99 on contract but gave only a vague "second quarter" launch window. We've been told by a source that Sprint is currently planning to release the EVO 4G LTE on Friday, May 18th, the same date that the LG Optimus Elite will be making its way into Sprint stores.

Although this information is obviously still a rumor at this point, there's certainly a possibility that May 18th is the day that the EVO 4G LTE will make its retail debut. Pre-orders for the handset are kicking off on May 7th, and considering that the gap between pre-order and launch for the LG Viper and Galaxy Nexus are fairly small, it stands to reason that Sprint may do the same for the EVO 4G LTE. It's also worth noting that while May 18th is a Friday and Sprint often releases new phones on Sundays, the carrier has been known to launch high-profile devices on Fridays, including the EVO 4G and the Epic 4G Touch. We'll keep our eyes out for more on the EVO 4G LTE's launch and pass along anything we receive. Until then, maybe grab a pencil and use it to circle May 18th on a nearby calendar.
