We've already seen a couple of Android device manufacturers try their hand at creating a 3D smartphone, including HTC with the EVO 3D and LG with the Optimus 3D Max, but recently one company made it clear that we shouldn't hold our breath for any 3D-capable handsets from it. In a statement sent to Engadget, Samsung explained that although it's always looking into new tech for its smartphones, 3D support won't be making the cut any time soon. The word straight from Sammy:
"Although Samsung Electronics is constantly exploring new technologies for our mobile devices, we have no immediate plan to include displays featuring 3D technology in our upcoming smartphones."
That statement echoes the sentiment of a Samsung U.K. executive who said early last year that his firm just didn't see the need for 3D smartphones. So far it seems that 3D handsets have yet to really take off in popularity, but if it ever does, I'm sure Samsung will be more than happy to put a 3D-enabled smartphone out. Until then it'll push out devices with other unique characteristics, like the 5.3-inch, S Pen-toting Galaxy Note. What do you all think of 3D smartphones?
