We've seen a few different Samsung Galaxy S III spec rumors surface in recent months, and today we've got another to add to the (increasingly large) pile. A report from the Korea Times claims that an unnamed Samsung executive has said that the Galaxy S III will come to market with a quad-core Exynos processor. The comment came during a discussion based on the exec's claim that Samsung wants to to decrease its dependence on Qualcomm for chips. The same exec also mentioned that Samsung's chip also incorporates LTE support. Unsurprisingly, Samsung declined to comment on the report.
This isn't the first time that we've heard that the Galaxy S III may launch with a quad-core processor under its hood, and with other high-end devices like HTC's One X also coming with quad-core chips, it makes sense that Samsung would want to stuff a quad-core CPU into its next flagship handset. The exec didn't clarify exactly which processor will be powering the Galaxy S III, but it's thought that it'll use an Exynos 4412 chip. We're still waiting to find out when Samsung will put an end to the rumors and make the Galaxy S III official, though the company has said that it'll unveil the Galaxy S II successor at an event that it'll be hosting sometime in the first half of the year.
