Motorola Atrix 4G on the receiving end of a software update

If there's a Motorola Atrix 4G sitting in your vicinity, you may want to check it for an update notification. Reports have begun flying in about a new software update that's begun making its way to the Atrix and brings with it a handful of fixes and device improvements. Motorola's list of changes found in the update, which is v4.5.141, is as follows:

  • Security: Implemented latest Google Android security fixes
  • Stability: Improvements to memory function as it relates to media applications and ability to prevent need for re-booting when phone is impacted by heavy loading or high temperatures
  • Bluetooth: Enhancement which allows you to launch voice command from bluetooth enabled headset when phone is asleep
  • Wi-Fi: Improvements to Wi-Fi settings to deliver better overall consumer experience as well as  to make it easier to use Mobile Hotspot with your phone
  • Messaging: Improvements to text messaging capability to deliver better user experience
  • Contacts: Improvements are made to maintain all phone book contacts after the OTA upgrade

No, there aren't any ice cream sandwiches to be found in this update, but at least we know that the Atrix 4G's upgrade to Google's latest dessert is in the works. You Atrix owners out there that haven't already been notified of today's v.4.5.141 update can head on into Menu > Settings > About phone > System updates to check for it manually. Once the new software is up and running, don't forget to take a minute out of your busy playing-with-a-new-update schedule to tell us how things are working out for you.
