Love super thin smartphones? Then you're sure to dig Huawei's new Android offering, the Ascend P1 S. Billed as being the world's thinnest smartphone, the Ascend P1 S measures 6.68mm at its thinnest point. Thinness isn't the only notable feature of the Ascend P1 S, though, as it's also packing a 4.3-inch qHD (960x540) Super AMOLED display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and 1080p video capture, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera with 720p video capture, 1GB RAM, pentaband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA, and a 1,670mAh battery.
On the software side, the Ascend P1 S is packing Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Expect the Ascend P1 S to be available in metallic black, ceramic white, and cherry-blossom pink. It'll be launching globally, including North America, in Q2 2012. Huawei also announced the Ascend P1, which includes the same specs as the P1 S but has a larger battery (1,800mAh) and bigger frame (7.69mm).
That's a pretty thin phone, no? The good news is that Huawei's also packed on what looks to be a vanilla flavor of Ice Cream Sandwich, which should appeal to the folks out there that prefer the untouched version of Google's mobile operating system. It's not yet clear if we'll ever see the Ascend P1 S actually land on the shelves of a carrier here in the U.S., but for anyone that just has to have one, the fact that the Ascend P1 S features pentaband 3G means that it should play nicely with AT&T and T-Mobile here in the States if you decide to buy one unlocked.
