T-Mobile confirms "New Year, New Phone Sale" for this weekend

It was just last night that we first got wind of T-Mobile's upcoming "New Year, New Phone Sale," which will see all of the carrier's smartphones and some mobile broadband devices have their net down payment reduced to $49.99 or less with a two-year contract. This morning the promotion has been made nice and official by the folks in Magenta. The New Year, New Phone Sale will kick off this Friday and run through Sunday, January 8th, knocking the net down payment of all smartphones and select mobile broadband products to somewhere between $0 and $49.99 after mail-in rebate and two-year contract on a qualifying Unlimited Value plan. Customers will also be subject to 20 monthly payments of varying amounts. As for data plan requirements, most T-Mobile smartphones will need to be paired with a 2GB data plan, while 42Mbps-capable smartphones (HTC Amaze 4G and Samsung Galaxy S II) will need 5GB of data. A sample price list can be found below. A more expanded list is available here.

For those of you wondering if you're eligible to take part in the New Year, New Phone Sale, T-Mobile says that new customers will be eligible when signing up for a new two-year contract with an Unlimited Value Plan. Existing T-Mobile subscribers can take part in the promo if they're eligible for an upgrade.

So there you go, T-Mobile customers. It's kind of a bummer that folks that aren't interested in signing up for a Value plan can't take advantage of any of these deals, but if you've got some holiday cash burning a hole in your pocket and are A-OK with singing up for one of the Value offerings, then it might be worth your time to mosey on in to your local T-Mobile store this weekend. You can find the full press release from T-Mobile down below.
