Dell Streak 5 treated to official Android 2.3 Gingerbread update

Dell may have stopped selling the Streak 5 earlier this year, but for those of you that already own one of the first devices deserving of the "phablet" label, Dell's got a nice little surprise for you. The company has released an official update to Gingerbread for the Streak 5 that'll bump the device up to Android 2.3.3 and also packs in version 1.5.1 of Dell's Stage UI and Swype 2.27. Sound good? You can find installation instructions right here and the Dell download link here.

An update to Gingerbread might not sound like the most exciting thing ever, but considering that the Streak was killed a few months ago (and left with Froyo when it was given the axe), a bump up to Android 2.3 is pretty nice. Kudos to Dell for showing its Streak 5 customers some love. If you're one of those Streak 5 users, be sure to give us a shout in the comments below and let us know how the official Gingerbread update is working out for you!
