Hot on the heels of news that the the Department of Justice's lawsuit against AT&T over the proposed T-Mobile deal has been postponed, both Sprint and C Spire (formerly Cellular South) have also agreed to put a hold on their cases against AT&T. The judge approved both motions to stay the suits earlier this morning.
Now that the Justice Department's case with AT&T has been postponed, AT&T has been given until January 12th to give an update on its plans for the merger. A new hearing on the deal has been scheduled for January 18th. AT&T has said that it intends to use the next month to evaluate all of its options going forward, and although we obviously haven't heard anything official on the company's plans just yet, the rumor mill has alleged that AT&T might be considering selling off T-Mobile assets in order to help push the deal through the regulatory approval process.
