HTC Hero S, BlackBerry Curve 9350 available today from U.S. Cellular

Are you a U.S. Cellular customer in the market for a new smartphone? If so, you've got pretty good timing. U.S. Cellular has announced that the HTC Hero S and BlackBerry Curve 9350 are now available online, with the Curve 9350 hitting stores on October 14th. Pricing for the two handsets is set at $199.99 after $100 mail-in rebate and two-year contract for the Hero and $49.99 after $100 MIR and two-year contract for the Curve 9350. As far as specs go, here's what you can expect:

  • HTC Hero S: 4-inch 960x540 qHD Super LCD display, 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor, 5-megapixel camera, HD video capture, 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter, 8GB microSD card, 1,520mAh battery, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread beneath HTC Sense 3.0.
  • BlackBerry Curve 9350: 2.44-inch 480x360 HVGA+ screen, 800MHz processor, 5-megapixel camera, VGA video capture, 512MB built-in storage, 1,000mAh battery, and the BlackBerry 7 OS.

Not a bad pair of handsets, right? The Curve 9350 is a nice entry-level device, especially for folks interested in BlackBerry, while the Hero S is a respectable Android offering with a screen that's not huge but not tiny as well as the most current version of Android phones (for now) in Gingerbread. There's still no word on when in October the HTC Wildfire S will be joining U.S. Cellular's lineup, but as usual, we'll keep you posted.
