Despite the fact that we've yet to see Nokia (officially) show its first Windows Phone off to the masses, there's already a lot of hype surrounding the device. The problem? We don't know when we'll actually get to buy the darn thing. Nokia CEO Stephen Elop said back in March that his company was aiming to launch its first Windows Phone handset in late 2011, and the good news is that that's still the case. The official Nokia Twitter account recently announced that the first Nokia with Windows Phone devices will begin shipping in the fourth quarter of this year, although large volumes of the phones may not begin arriving until 2012.
It's worth mentioning that there's no specific mention of U.S. availability in this tweet, so there's no guarantees that we'll see a Nokia-made Windows Phone in the States before the year is up. For now we'll just hope that the lack of a United States shout-out was due to Twitter's 140-character limit (even though @NokiaAustralia got a mention, suggesting that the folks Down Under may get one of the earliest cracks at a WP7 Nokia). When more info on the launch of the first Nokia Windows Phone comes out, you can bet that we'll pass it along. Until then, we're going to go back to watching those leaked Sea Ray videos over and over to help pass the time.
