The FCC is at it again, tipping us off to an unannounced handset that could soon be making its way to store shelves. Today we've got the a Samsung-made handset that features the model number SGH-T679 and an AWS radio, both of which are good indications that this phone is destined for T-Mobile. As is usually the case with FCC filings, though, there's not many details available beyond that.
It's been suggested that the T679 may be a T-Mobile-friendly version of the Samsung Galaxy W, a phone whose backside lines up nicely with the outline from the FCC filing above (photo below). For those that are curious, the Galaxy W is packing a 3.7-inch 800x480 display, single-core 1.4GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera, 720p video capture, VGA front-facing shooter, 1,500mAh battery, and Android 2.3 beneath Samsung's TouchWiz UI. Obviously those specs aren't quite as impressive as what you can find on the Galaxy S II, but for anyone that feels that the GSII's 4.52-inch display may be a tad excessive, the Galaxy W could be a good option. Now the wait for the T679 to be officially announced begins.
