Earlier today we learned that Sprint will be upping its early termination fee to $350 on September 9th, but another leak has revealed that that's not the only big change in store for Now Network customers. The folks at Android Central just got their hands all over the latest edition of the Sprint Playbook, which reveals that the carrier will soon be increasing its upgrade fee, axing one-year contracts, launching a new Android-powered Kyocera handset, and prepping for a new customer rewards program. There's a lot of details to go over, so let's break it down bullet point-style:
- Alongside the aforementioned ETF increase, Sprint will also be doubling its upgrade fee from $18 to $36 on September 9th.
- The Kyocera Milano will be launching on September 9th for $49.99 with a two-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate ($300 full retail). Expect the Milano to feature a 3-inch touchscreen, 800MHz processor, 3.2-megapixel camera, 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, 2GB microSD card preinstalled, sliding QWERTY keyboard, 1340mAh battery, 3G connectivity, and Android 2.3.
- On October 2nd, Sprint will no longer offer one-year contracts and one-year upgrades. To get any kind of handset discount, you'll need to sign away two years of your mobile life.
- Sprint will soon be launching a new rewards program called Sprint Rewards Me. Details are sparse right now, but the document does say "Purchase a new device every 6 months at the National 2 year pricing."
- Interestingly, Sprint also took a guess at when AT&T's HTC Holiday may be released in its Epic 4G Touch comparison chart. According to Sprint, the Holiday will be launching sometime in September.
Certainly there's some not-super-awesome news contained in this leak, like the fact that Sprint will soon stop offering one-year contracts, but the good news is that we've learned all of it ahead of time so that customers have the opportunity to prepare for the changes. Another upside to this leak is Sprint's new Rewards Me program, which could end up being great for folks that aren't happy unless they're rocking the latest and greatest hardware.
