RIM to give QNX BlackBerry smartphones the ability to run Android apps?

QNX BlackBerry Android

One of the most widely talked about features of the QNX-powered BlackBerry PlayBook is its ability to run Android apps, a feature that's expected to officially arrive on the tablet later this year. Many have wondered if RIM's upcoming QNX BlackBerry smartphones would be getting in on the Android fun as well, and it appears that today we may finally have an answer. According to "three people familiar with the plan" speaking to Bloomberg, RIM is indeed planning to include the ability to run Android apps on its QNX smartphones that are due out early next year.

Although still unconfirmed at this point, it wouldn't be a shock to see RIM give its QNX BlackBerrys the same Android Player feature that it's bringing to the PlayBook. Doing so would allow BlackBerry users access to a much higher number of applications and could also convince a few Android enthusiasts to make the switch to one of RIM's handsets. Would any of you make the jump from Android to a QNX BlackBerry if you knew you would still have access to your favorite Android apps?
