There's been speculation surrounding the iPhone 5's potential launch date just about since the iPhone 4 launched last year, but as we've crawled through summer and inched closer to fall, the release rumors have been getting more and more common. The most recent report claimed that the new iPhone would be arriving in October, and today the folks from 9to5 Mac have chimed in with specific dates for us to focus on. According to the site's sources, Apple is currently planning to begin offering pre-orders for the iPhone 5 on September 30th, with the launch going down a week later on October 7th.
This isn't the first time we've seen October 7th kicked around as a possible iPhone 5 launch date: a report from The iPhone Blog last week also claimed that Apple's new handset will arrive on the first Friday of October. As usual, these dates probably shouldn't be taken as gospel just yet. We always say that nothing's official until it's official, but that's especially so when it comes to Apple. That said, it's certainly possible that October 7th will indeed be the date that the new iPhone arrives. At this point, Apple probably doesn't even have a concrete date set for the iPhone 5 launch. So for now, just keep October 7th in the back of your mind, k?
