HTC Inspire 4G Android 2.3 Gingerbread update now rolling out

Got a case of the Mondays, HTC Inspire 4G owners? If so, your antidote has arrived. HTC has revealed that the Inspire's update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread is now rolling out over the air, and reports have been popping up from owners of the device confirming that the new software is indeed making its way into the wild. If you're an Inspire user and Gingerbread hasn't yet hit your neck of the woods, you can check for the OTA update by going into your Settings menu, then AT&T Software Update, then HTC Wi-Fi software update, and hitting that little Check now button. Here's what you can expect to find in the update once the install is complete and the dust has settled:

  • Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread
  • New HTC Sense™ features:
    • Updated Application Tray features
    • Updated FriendStream™ features
    • Added Quick Settings in the Notifications window
  • Improved Power Management function
  • Improved media experience
  • Various minor bug fixes

HTC has also posted the update on its website as a 269MB download (link) for folks that'd prefer to go the manual route. The Taiwanese firm does mention, though, that manually installing the ROM will wipe Inspire's data, so be sure to back up your information before getting the update ball rolling. Whichever method you choose to update your Inspire, be sure to come back and let us know how the new software is treating you. For those of you that aren't currently updating an Inspire 4G, I pose this question: now that the Atrix and Inspire have gotten Gingerbread, which AT&T Android device do you think will be the next to see Android 2.3?
