Apple files ITC complaint against HTC over alleged patent infringement

Apple is currently embroiled in an intense legal battle with Samsung that spans multiple continents, but that hasn't stopped it from getting involved with another major tech company. It was revealed this morning that Apple filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission against HTC on July 8th in an attempt to block imports of the firm's devices over alleged patent infringement. HTC has yet to respond to the complaint.

If you remember, Apple and HTC got into a legal tussle early last year, with Apple suing HTC over alleged patent infringement and then HTC responding with a comlaint of its own. A judge is expected to issue a ruling in that case on August 5th. It's not yet clear which patents Apple believes that HTC has infringed upon or which HTC products that it's seeking a ban on with its latest complaint, but the fact that Apple's filing says that it's trying to block imports of personal electronic devices suggests that both phones and tablets may be included. We should be learning more about Apple's complaint soon, so stay tuned!
