Good news for those of you with a Sprint 4G handset: your uploads may soon see a bit of a speed bump. According to a document leaked to Spantechular, Sprint will be increasing the 4G upload speed cap from 1Mbps to 1.5Mbps beginning tomorrow, June 10th. There's no software update to keep an eye out for since the upgrade is network-based, meaning tomorrow your upload cap will automagically be increased. As the doc points out, though, this upgrade only applies to phones, meaning those of you with a USB stick or hotspot will continue to have uploads capped at 1Mbps.
It's worth pointing out that just because Sprint is increasing its 4G upload cap, you won't immediately begin seeing your upload speeds jump to 1.5Mbps. As is always the case with network coverage and speeds, your mileage may vary when it comes to what kind of speeds you'll actually see in your neck of the woods. Still, this is good news for Sprint subscribers, especially with the launch of the HTC EVO 3D just around the corner.
UPDATE: Sprint has confirmed that it will be increasing the upload speed cap for 4G mobile devices from 1Mbps to 1.5Mbps and that once the upgrade is live, users may see uplink speeds that are as much as 50 percent quicker. However, Sprint also said that it hasn't stated a specific date for when the upgrade will take place.
