iTunes teases Automatic Download feature in iOS 5

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference is just a couple of days away, but that doesn't mean we can't squeeze in one last iOS 5 rumor, right? Right. The folks at MacRumors were recently sent the screenshot you see above, which was spotted by one lucky iTunes user when checking his application library for updates. Most of the paragraph is nothing new, but the last sentence — which has since been removed — mentions a feature that's not present in iOS 4:

"Or if your device has Automatic Download enabled for apps, your updates will download to your device without having to sync."

This suggests that iOS 5 may pack the ability to automatically download app updates rather than forcing the user to manually check for them. As MacRumors points out, the wording also suggests that you may be able to automatically download things besides apps, as well. Exactly what you'll be able to enable Automatic Download for isn't yet clear, although the rumor mill has claimed that Apple may be planning to include over the air software updates in the next revision of iOS. We should be learning more about Automatic Download and everything else iOS 5 has to offer when WWDC kicks off on Monday, so stay tuned!
