Is Honeycomb coming to phones? There's been a lot of will it-won't it speculation on the subject, but now it appears that we've got the final answer to that very question. Speaking with PCMag, Google spokesperson Andrew Kovacs said that, for now, Android 3.0 will be exclusively available on tablets like the XOOM and G-Slate. After seeing all of the awesome 3.0 features at Google's event yesterday, it'd be understandable if you were upset at Kovacs' statement, but don't fret just yet. The spokesperson said that "Features will arrive on phones over time," although he didn't go into any more detail.
After seeing some evidence that supported the "Honeycomb to phones" theory, this news definitely comes as a bit of a disappointment. Still, it's good that Google will be bringing at least some of 3.0's features to handsets. I can't wait to see if that redesigned camera UI gets ported to phones, because I've always felt like Google could do better with Android's camera interface, especially compared to what manufacturers like HTC and Motorola have done with their OS skins. Honeycomb's music app looks pretty nice, too. Which feature(s) from Honeycomb would you most like to see make it to phones?
UPDATE: According to a "trusted source" speaking with Phandroid, features from Honeycomb will be built into the next version of Android, known as Ice Cream Sandwich. Exactly which features aren't know, but hey, at least it's coming!
