Rumor: iPad 2 leaked display features same resolution as current model

It's been some time since we've heard any iPad 2 rumors, but today we're ending the drought with more possible news about the tablet's display. The folks at 9to5Mac, alongside iFixYouri, claim to have gotten shots of the next iPad's screen sitting next to the one that belongs in the current model. The new display, which is allegedly part number LP097X02-SLN1, is said to be made by LG Phillips with a resolution of 1024x728 and a size of 9.7-inches (exactly the same as the first iPad). The screen is also supposedly 1mm thinner than the one found in Apple's original tablet and also has a thinner bezel, which meshes well with the rumors that the iPad 2 will feature an iPod Touch-like form factor.

Some users may be disappointed if the iPad 2's screen does end up with the same resolution, but Apple likely wants to stick with that same resolution or something double in order to make it easy for developers to build apps for the device. We've heard plenty of speculation claiming that the next iPad will feature a bumped up resolution, though, so don't count on a 1024x768 display just yet. What do you all think? Will Apple increase the iPad 2's screen resolution or keep it the same?
