Just when we thought that we'd seen all there is to see of the PlayStation Phone, more information comes to light. Any Android fanatic will tell you that benchmarked a phone is a crucial aspect of testing the device and making a purchasing decision, and today a video of the PlayStation Phone getting put through the paces has emerged. After running Qualcomm's Neocore app, the PS Phone manages an average of 24.4 frames per second, which isn't terribly great. To compare, the freshly minted Nexus S posted 55.6 frames per second in the same test. You can watch the full clip below, but considering how short it is, I would hold off on the popcorn.
A score of 24.4 fps is pretty disappointing, no doubt, but we have to remember that the hardware in this video is most likely still a prototype. Heck, the software is still in the early stages of development, too. That said, it's still nice to see the PlayStation Phone in the wild, even if it does make the rumored March launch seem that much farther away. Any guesses as to what will be demoed in the next leak? Perhaps some honest-to-goodness PlayStation gaming?
