LG confirms that all Optimus One handsets will get Gingerbread

Just two days ago, the Internet was set ablaze by an LG Facebook post that said that any device with Gingerbread required a 1GHz processor, and because of that requirement, its line of Optimus Android phones wouldn't be upgraded to Android 2.3.  Yesterday the company said that that information came out prematurely and that they'd consider moving the Optimus family to 2.3, and today the entire saga comes to an end.  LG just announced that all of its Optimus One smartphones will receive the update to Android 2.3 and that the upgrades will be announced later on.  The full statement is as follows:

LG will upgrade all Optimus One smartphones currently using the Froyo OS to the next version of the Android OS, Gingerbread. Details of the upgrade schedule will be announced locally in due course. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and misunderstanding that was caused regarding this issue.

They didn't mention the Vortex, Optimus S, T, M, or U specifically, but it's probably a safe bet that they'll all get their own helping of Gingerbread.  It's tough to say when exactly that'll happen thanks to things like carrier testing, but at least now you can buy an Optimus phone without having to worry about being stuck at Android 2.2 forever.
