Palm's webOS devices to date have all been using the same "Mojo" application framework, but at the company's Developer Day in New York City, a new framework was announced that will bring all sorts of new device possibilities with it. The software, titled "Enyo," is a Javascript framework and will support hardware acceleration and faster load times. Most interestingly, though, is the news that Enyo will support multiple form factors and aspect ratios. Nothing specific was mentioned, but HP's Phil McKinney said that the company will be bringing new devices with some "really interesting new form factors" next year. Perhaps we'll finally see that mythical PalmPad and/or the Mansion. If you want to check out Enyo for yourself, watch the video below.
Considering that pretty much all of the webOS devices ever made sport nearly identical form factors and resolutions, I'd say that some new products are in order. After all, the Pre 2's bumped up processor, camera, etc. are nice and all, but releasing a phone with a resolution of 320x480 is kind of crazy when your competitors are coming to market with displays at 854x480 and up. Luckily the rumored specs for the Palm Mansion include a 5-inch, 800x480 screen and a release date in early 2011. Besides the full touch experience that is said to be found on the Mansion, what kinds of "really interesting new form factors" would you like to see webOS on?
