Good news, everyone! We can finally scratch another device off of the "Still on Android 1.5/1.6" list, because the Motorola CLIQ has finally been updated to Android 2.1. We'd previously heard that the CLIQ's upgrade would be arriving some time in mid-November, but Motorola has just posted instructions on how to make the move to Eclair on its website. Users will need a USB cable, 100MB of free space on a microSD card, and 15MB of free internal storage. Included in the update is Google Navigation, seven home screens, the ability to resize widgets, and access to more apps specifically designed for us with Android 2.1 and above. The CLIQ may be getting a little long in the tooth, and this may not be Android 2.2, but it's still great to see Motorola bringing mostly-up-to-date software to its customers. While you CLIQ XT owners may be feeling a little left out in the cold, I'm sure that your upgrade will be arriving sooner or later. In the mean time, all of you CLIQ owners out there should rush out and upgrade to Android 2.1. Just make sure you come back and tell us all about how the update is treating you, ok?
UPDATE: Looks like Moto has pulled down the page. If you still want to install the update, you can probably find all of the info you need with a little Googling. However, it sounds like there are a few users out there experiencing a couple of problems with the update; if you don't want to risk messing up your handset, it's probably a good idea for the OTA to roll out from T-Mobile.
