We've been hearing quite a bit about T-Mobile's new HSPA+ network and the first handset that will take advantage of that network, the G2. Today T-Mobile's HSPA+ network got one step closer to getting its first phone, as an HTC device with T-Mobile's AWS 3G and HSPA+ capabilities just passed through the FCC. As you can see above, the device's model code is PC10100. Engadget points out that this mystery handset could either be the G2 or the dual-core Glacier that we saw earlier this month in a GLBenchmark test. Since we're probably much closer to see the G2 than the Glacier, it seems likely that this is, in fact, the G2.
Considering we've heard in the past that the G2 is slated to launch on September 29th, I would guess that this is the G2 that we're seeing. Another thing to think about is the fact that while we've seen the Glacier pop up in an internal bidding site and on a GLBenchmark listing, we haven't seen any photos or video of the device itself. The G2, on the other hand, has been the subject of a couple of photo shoots. You know what they say about two heads (or, in this case, multiple heads) being better than one, though, so what do you readers think?
