Stop me if you've heard this one before: Apple is planning to release a Verizon iPhone in January next year. This time, the rumor is that Apple has ordered "millions of units" of CDMA chips from manufacturer Qualcomm in order to begun production in December with a "likely" launch in January. TechCrunch reports that this news comes from "sources with knowledge of this entire situation." While the sources do not explicitly say that an iPhone on Verizon will definitely be coming in January,
We've been hearing Verizon iPhone rumors since Apple originally announced the iPhone in 2007, but the possibility of the device actually launching is increasingly real. Many are pointing to the fact that Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg will be giving the keynote at CES 2011 as strong evidence that he will introduce a Verizon iPhone, but I'm not so sure. I feel like Steve Jobs would want to introduce such an anticipated product, but you never know with Apple. The only thing I can tell you for a fact is that everything you hear about a Verizon iPhone should be taken with a grain of salt, unless you hear it directly from the mouth of Steve Jobs, or possibly Ivan Seidenberg. How many of you would ditch your current phone/carrier to pick up an iPhone on Verizon?
