This week got incredibly busy with Google I/O taking the spotlight smack in the middle of the week. There was much excitement to be had revolving around everything Google. Things we already knew existed, such as Android 2.2 Froyo and Google TV were finally made official, and for the most part left us waiting to see what the future will hold. We even had some surprises such as the next iteration of Android (after Froyo), Gingerbread, said to be launching by Q4 of this year. Unfortunately, due to the enormous amount of news that passes by our desks, we weren't able to get to everything, so we bring you "Who let the dogs out? Things we missed this week..." hoping that you will still love us for all we do for our beloved readers. Enjoy!
Android Market revamped
The Android Market (Android's online app portal) has never been very popular. Why? Because there's not a whole lot you can really accomplish by going there, and it's not been known as easy to navigate. According to Phandroid, however, the site has just undergone a bit of a refresh, perhaps in anticipation of things to come. If you head on over to android.com/market, you'll see it has a newer look. We also found out, as of Google I/O and the announcement of Froyo, that OTA downloading of apps will be enabled soon, presumably from the Market. Hopefully the online version of Android Market will have a use very soon. Anyone getting excited?

Kindle for Android coming this summer
Earlier this week Amazon announced a free Kindle ebook reader app for Android. The app is already available on several other platforms like BlackBerry, Mac, PC, among others, but won't launch for Android until this coming summer. The app will allow you to access your library of previously downloaded ebooks, search for new books, and of course, read your ebooks from your Android device with OS 1.6 and above. According to Amazon Kindle director, Jay Marine, "We think customers are going to love the convenience and simplicity of having instant access to a massive selection of books from Amazon on their Droid, Nexus, Incredible and many more Android devices." 24 Million next-gen iPhones will be delivered to Apple this year?
According to Digitimes Research Analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, the yet-to-be-announced next-generation iPhone is expected to be shipped in the millions. The analyst believes that iPhone manufacturer, Foxconn, will ship 24 million phones to Apple in 2010. In terms of specs, Kuo suggests that the device will be sporting a 960x640 IPS (LCD) touchscreen with FFS technology, 512 MB RAM, a 1GHz A4 processor, and a better battery. Once again, there's no telling with Apple and we'll just have to wait until WWDC to find out what's really taking place behind closed doors.

BlackBerry 3G pearl available in Canada at Best Buy
The BlackBerry Pearl 3G seems to be on everyone's mind as of late, especially since we have no real clue as to where it will end up in the states just yet. If you're a resident of Canada, however, good news is coming your way. It appears as if all the Canadian carrier will be carrying the device, however, Best Buy is the first to advertise it along with a Rogers plan. If the Pearl suits your fancy, you'll be able to pick one up for $79.99 with a 3-year contract or $449.99 off-contract. I don't know about you, but the off-contract price seems a bit steep to me considering I paid that much for my BlackBerry 9700, but I'll let you be the judge of that.

New iPod Touch images surface in Vietnam
Just last week we saw the next-generation iPhone in the wild again thanks to some folks out in Vietnam. We also found out that similar to Gizmodo, the Vietnamese blog site, Taoviet, shelled out some cash to get the phone. This week it appears the Vietnamese have done it once again by uncovering a next-generation iPod Touch. The iPod Touch in question has been revealed by another Vietnamese site, Tinhte, who along with Taoviet had video footage of the next-gen iPhone. The device is said to be a 64GB model with a 2MP camera, 3.5mm jack, and everything else that seems to be status quo for iPods. It's difficult to say whether this is the real deal or not, but word on the street suggests we'll know more come June or September of this year.
