Rumor: HTC Droid Eris getting Android 2.1 tomorrow?

It looks like Verizon's Droid Eris users will no longer have to rely on cooked ROMs to get some hands-on time with Android 2.1, as an internal memo has leaked out stating that the 2.1 update is "tentatively scheduled" to begin rolling out to users tomorrow, May 11th.

Everyone knows that buying an Android device that isn't a stock "Google experience" such as the Nexus One means that you may end up waiting longer than normal for any Android updates that are released.  It's the risk you take in return for getting a prettier interface over stock Android, such as HTC's Sense.  However, many users feel that the time it has taken to release these updates has gotten somewhat out of hand, which forces them to turn to ROMs.  We'll see tomorrow if Droid Eris users will continue to rely on these ROMs or if they will finally get their Sense experience upgraded with Android 2.1.

Have you used a cooked ROM on your device before or do you always wait on official releases? Tell us down in the comments!
