More on Droid: US GSM version passes FCC

The news has certainly been pretty Droidtastic these days. Now, a GSM version of the device (aka Tao/Sholes) has passed the FCC. The docs list WCDMA 850/1900/2100 — the same bands that AT&T uses for its UMTS 3G — as well as GSM 850/900/1800/1900. That makes the Motorola Android device compatible for both Big Blue and Rogers.

What? So much for “DellDroid” debuting the platform on AT&T. Is the wireless operator leaping forward to brace itself before its cash cow, the iPhone, finally leaves? All while stealing a little bit of Verizon’s thunder? That’s almost too much for me to imagine. I haven’t been this excited about the holiday season since I was a kid waiting for Santa Claus.
