Citi goes mobile?

You can take it to the bank. While other financial institutions and companies like mfoundry are just trying to get consumers to check their statements from their phones, it looks like Citi is taking it a step further by enlisting manufacturer, Mobicom, to build a Citi-branded device. When linked with a Citi credit card or mobile bank account, the handset lets users make mobile payments.

As reported on Phone Scoop this week, the FCC shed a little light on the GSM Plus II from Citi ? the five button handset appears to come sans keyboard and relies on the navigation buttons to text and scroll through the menu as well as an accelerometer to access menu options by tilting the phone. The handset, rates and carrier haven't been officially announced.
