Samsung pumps out so many handsets each month it's hard to keep up with them. What makes things even worse (better?) is that they're so big in Korea that it's often worth the work of sifting through the American releases to get to the really cool stuff that may never make it Stateside. As such, I've gone through Sammy's MWC microsite and the 9 MB PDF I found up there to bring you the highlights of their new releases.
First off are the Soul and G810, which I blogged about last week. Soul (U900) is Sammy's new flagship, the 13mm-thin, 5MP-packing, touch-navigation, Ultra Edition sliderphone destined to make all the style mavens drool. The G810 is also a 5MP sliderphone, but it's more a geek's superphone, what with it's Symbian 9.2/Series 60 OS, WiFi, and integrated YouTube software. Also, the G810 packs higher-quality optics than the Soul, so it should yield noticeably better photos despite the identical megapixel count.
But there's more. The F480 looks like the Samsung Armani minus the Armani branding. Forget the missing fashion label, though - the F480 packs some serious punch into its ultra-thin 11.5mm candybar body. There's a 2.8" QVGA touchscreen with haptic feedback running the Croix UI, 3G connectivity, a 5MP camera with auto-focus and LED flash, and microSD memory card support.
And if you believe mobile-review.com, Samsung's got more on tap for this week (even though my PR contacts at Samsung will neither confirm nor deny some of the following). The F400 is another collaboration with high-end audio company Bang & Olufsen, this time packing B&O's speaker technology into a sliderphone form factor. The F400 is actually a dual-slider, with a keypad on one end and stereo speakers on the other, and it also features 3G connectivity, a 2.2" QVGA display, 3MP camera, FM radio with RDS, and microSD card slot. Look for it at the end of next month, if you believe mobile-review.
And the G400 is a fancy flip phone branded as "Dual Touch Chic." This one's got a touch-sensitive screen on the inside and another one on the outside, and the whole thing's housed in luxury metal. At 14.5mm it's pretty thin for a flip phone, but Samsung still managed to fit a 5MP camera with autofocus in there. Mobile-review says May and 300 Euros for date and pricing on the G400.
There's more - the i200 is a budget-minded Windows Mobile smartphone with 3G, the L770 is a fashion-minded slider, and the L170 is a 10.9mm thin candybar with a 2MP camera, a/v player with radio, and surprisingly low price tag.
