Today Yahoo introduced the first real-time text messaging service to mobile phone numbers. Now users will be able to send free text messages from their Yahoo email account to any mobile phone number in the US, Canada, India and the Philippines.
Yahoo did not forget about the millions of people who IM throughout the day. Users are now able to send and receive IM's via AOL (although not officially named in the press release), Yahoo Messenger, and Windows Live Messenger.
