Lingo Chooses Intrado to Provide VoIP 911 Solution

MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lingo, Inc., a leading VoIP phone service provider, today announced an agreement with Intrado Inc. (NASDAQ: TRDO), a global provider of integrated data and telecommunications solutions, to provide the Intrado V9-1-1(SM) Mobility Service to many of Lingo's VoIP subscribers. V9-1-1 Mobility Service will help support Lingo's plans for complying with the FCC's rules that require VoIP service providers to provide E9-1-1 to subscribers by November 28, 2005.

"Lingo VoIP phone service provides more features while maintaining the fundamental attributes of the land line at a substantially lower cost," said Doug Weeks, Lingo vice president and general manager. "We are very excited about continuing to bring our customers new and enhanced services."

VoIP E9-1-1 call delivery requires that the call be routed quickly to the correct public safety agency with accurate caller and location information. To do this, several critical technological capabilities and business agreements must be in place, including:

  • Selective router access agreements to deliver the call natively
  • 9-1-1 service provider provisioning agreements for call routing instructions
  • Network connectivity to deliver VoIP customer records to the PSAP

Intrado V9-1-1 Mobility Service is designed to provide a comprehensive solution to meet these technical and business requirements. Additionally, Intrado's unique solution continues to enable VoIP service providers to reduce their time to market and implementation requirements in support of their VoIP emergency calling services.

"Intrado is eager to support Lingo's expanded E9-1-1 capabilities," said Stephen Meer, Intrado CTO and co-founder. "As companies like Lingo deploy these effective emergency calling technologies, the industry will continue to see increasing adoption rates by both residential and enterprise users."
